Welcome to Trends in Transplantation! This interactive program, an integral part of the Certificate Program in Transplantation, enables the user to interact with a number of cases that have been specially designed to reflect the complexity and dynamism of the transplant patient.

In each of the cases, you will encounter basic patient information followed by a number of events in his or her course. Some cases deal with acute issues soon after transplantation, while others involve complications occurring months or years later. At various times during the case, you will be asked to use the information available to make a patient-care recommendation, and the consequences of that choice will then be explored.

To help you with these decisions, you may obtain information from the toolbox, which is accessed by clicking on the symbols shown at the left side of each screen. These symbols represent the following parts of the patient's medical record: vital signs/nursing notes, lab values and pathology reports, medication profile, and the physicians' progress notes. Use these elements of your toolbox to gather the information you need to make recommendations about care of these patients.

The Trends in Transplantation interactive patient case program is designed specially to present key concepts from the Certificate in Transplantation course. This Web-based program enables users to review a relevant patient, seek information just as they would in a patient's medical record, and recommend a course of action. Patients of various types and at differing complexity levels are presented so that the program "grows" as the users' clinical expertise increases.
